As Senior Recruitment Consultant, Phil Melzer has responsibility for managing multiple client accounts across Government, Defence and Commercial industry sectors.
“I’ve been with the organisation now for about seven years. Although it feels like I fell into the recruitment industry, I think I naturally gravitated towards where I am now. I get a great sense of satisfaction helping our client’s Hiring Managers find the talent they require, as well as helping Contractors to find their next best matched endeavour.
What I really enjoy is the enormous diversity in the projects and requirements I support. That keeps it exciting and current. Also, with our ever expanding portfolio of clients and their inherent environmental complexities, no day is the same. Predominately the requirements I see are IT oriented, but as we have grown as a business we’re starting to fill more roles across corporate areas such as HR, Finance and Marketing. There is also an element of aftercare for all the Contractors I have placed, so it’s expected there’ll be continuous discussions to that effect. Some days I can be involved in bid work, supporting tender submission documents and providing market analysis, other days I can be organising fun team games, which need to be universal to take into account our offshore colleagues. I’ve learnt an incredible amount about our client’s sectors and the recruitment industry here at SSR. Being involved from the early stages of numerous tender processes, and supporting the delivery of awarded contracts we have subsequently won, it’s provided me with a unique insight that has enabled me to grow my understanding and better grasp the complex nature of such an endeavour.”
